2x points at Cereus 5/23 - Value Analysis

Poker Rakeback

This Sunday (Power Sunday) May 23rd Cereus is offering Double Absolute Points and Ultimate Points for the entire day.  Typically Cereus offers double point Happy Hour periods from 1 - 4 est (AM and PM) every day, with Sunday afternoon's Happy Hour extending an extra hour.  You'll find ring game players congregating during those times to rack up extra points.  But is it worth it and should you spend your entire day Sunday grinding the cash game tables at Cereus?

We wouldn't write this post if it wasn't worth it.  I personally recently played a combination of 5/10 and 3/6 limit on Absolute and earned 2694 status points during a period that I raked $896.  Lets call is 3 points per dollar raked.  You receive 1x - 5x your Status points in AbsolutePoints (or UltimatePoints), then double it if they're earned during Power Sunday or Happy Hour.  If you're Diamond Elite, you'll earn 3 * 5 * 2 = 30 points per dollar raked.  If you redeem your points for tournament entries, those 30 points are worth 30 cents.  So by playing  this Sunday you're getting an additional 15% in rakeback value for your play if you are Diamond Elite.  3% extra if you're Bronze, 6% if Silver, 9% if Gold, and 12% if Platinum.  This of course is based on Short-handed 3/6 - 5/10 limit action, but other games should come in relatively close.

Those of you already playing at Cereus know that they offer great value even during non-Power Hour times.

-30%  rakeback with few deductions

-Constant deposit bonuses typically clearing at ~10% rakeback value

-Monthly Races with finishers typically receiving well over 5% extra value

-VIP program worth 3% - 30% in rakeback.

While it isn't possible to give a universal total rakeback figure for AP and UB, reaching 50% - 75% total rakeback is certainly achievable by most players if you take advantage of events like the Power Sunday.
